moneyThe organisation of a Charity Raffle has become quite a tradition at our end-of-year festive Bookswap. Since 2010 we have raised money for the following Brussels-based charities for projects connected to books and/or literacy:- Mission East/West, Convergences, Lire et Ecrire & last year Espace Populaire d’Education et d’Expression. We raised a record 440 euros from the sale of tickets on the day & the sale of small home-made items at our very first mini Christmas market. On Friday February 7th I had the great pleasure of handing over the money to Alain Schittecatte, in charge of the selected charity (based in the Marolles) & hearing first-hand about this “ecole de devoirs”.
